Honoring the Memory of Jim Deane
Whether he was in the classroom, on the track or in the council chamber, Jim Deane had a lifelong passion for building community. A long-time member of the Maple Grove Council, Deane served as the Mayor of Maple Grove, was a member of the Maple Grove Park Board and chaired the Three Rivers Park District.
Jim spent his entire career as a teacher and coach at Osseo High School. He made an impact on the lives of so many, including students, fellow teachers or other coaches. A runner himself, Jim was on hand every year to organize the runners, blast the starting gun, cheer on the participants and hand out awards. It is the Maple Grove Community Organization’s privilege to honor Jim Deane’s memory by lending his name to this Maple Grove Days tradition.
