SUMMARY:Urban Wildland Half Marathon & 5K
DESCRIPTION:Since 2003\, the Urban Wildland Half Marathon & 5K has helped fund Wood Lake Nature Center’s environmental education partnership with the Richfield Public Schools\, which has been in place since 1971. The partnership brings Richfield’s K-6 students to Wood Lake multiple times a year as part of their science curriculum. Thanks to the Urban Wildland\, the program was spared from budget cuts and has continued every year with the proceeds from this event. \nThe Urban Wildland Half Marathon and 5K courses wind through shaded residential neighborhoods\, natural areas (including Wood Lake Nature Center\, the benefactor of the event!)\, and neighborhood parks. Both courses are circular. The half marathon is a USATF-certified course.

SUMMARY:Park Point 5-Miler & 2-Mile Walk
DESCRIPTION:Holding the crown as northern Minnesota’s oldest road race\, the Park Point 5-Miler & 2-Mile Walk starts and finishes near the Park Point Pavilion in Duluth\, MN. A picturesque course sandwiched between the open water of Lake Superior and the Duluth Harbor\, this event offers a perfect mid-summer option for runners and walkers alike. \nThe 5-Miler is a more competitive running field but is now preceded by a 2-Mile Walk\, which encourages people of all ages and abilities to come out and enjoy Duluth’s Park Point. \nThis is the last of three races involved in the annual KP Challenge\, in which participants commit to three races throughout the spring and summer. The others are the Saint Fennessy 4K and Fitger’s 5K\, with the aim to help participants keep on a regular training schedule and consistently complete longer distance races. \nNet proceeds from the event go to benefit the Young Athletes Foundation (YAF)\, the nonprofit arm of Grandma’s Marathon focused on helping the area’s youth develop healthy and active lifestyles. Since its inception in 1990\, the YAF has donated more than $1.3 million to youth athletic and nonprofit organizations in a five-county region.

SUMMARY:Grandma’s Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Since our inaugural race in 1977\, Grandma’s Marathon has grown into one of the largest and most popular marathons in the United States. Now much bigger than just a 26.2-mile road race\, Grandma’s Marathon is now a “can’t miss” weekend that brings together runners of all calibers and from all over the world for a yearly celebration of the human spirit. \nNamed four straight years as the state’s best annual sporting event by “Minnesota’s Best” voters\, Grandma’s Marathon has become the unofficial “kickoff to summer” event in the region. With rolling hills and a net downhill elevation\, our racecourse starts north of Duluth\, MN near Two Harbors and runs along Scenic Highway 61\, hugging the shores of Lake Superior before taking participants through the heart of downtown Duluth and finishing in historic Canal Park. \nThe point-to-point course even offers runners a tailwind most years\, making it the perfect place for a marathon rookie or a veteran trying for a PR or Boston Marathon qualifying time. Not only that\, but one of the nation’s largest expos as well as a traditional pre-race spaghetti feed and great post-race entertainment make for a weekend experience that is the total package for our participants. \nGrandma’s Marathon was also named one of 20 “Marathons of the Decade” by BibRave and a Minnesota Signature Event\, further evidence of a world class event with small town charm. \nPricing Structure (In-Person)\nOctober 1-October 15 — $130\nOctober 16-December 31 — $140\nJanuary 1-March 31 — $150\nApril 1-June 1 — $160 \nPricing Structure (Virtual)\nOctober 1-Race Day — $120 \nGrandma’s Marathon weekend is a time the word “impossible” ceases to exist and when more than 20\,000 people become your biggest supporters and best running buddies. So get ready to once again tie up your laces for another year of memories\, miles\, and human might.
